I'm a full time, all season roofer, but I can do pretty much any type of art you give me. Flash, music, paints, pencils, you name it, I can probably do it. I rap under the name Ratrap now. Check my tunes.

Big steps for a man with no legs

Posted by RoobyKillAll - September 2nd, 2008

So as I stated in my previous news update, I've fallen in love with Ottawa, and along with it, a very special girl who's more than I could've ever asked for. Moving down there October 1st, paying 750$ a month for a 1 bedroom apartment (oolala) all inclusive, so we don't have to worry about fluctuating bills. Getting either a full time or part time job, not sure which yet depending on how my tattoo apprenticeship hunt goes. Planning on having a few days to myself in the week so I can get working in a tattoo shop and get my skills up.

I should totally go to Ottowa and have you draw me a tattoo. It would be awesome.

Yeah? For sure man I'd love to. Make a whole thread about the adventure, lol. Just gimme a time sometime in October.

hey man, do you have any pictures of tattoos you've done?

Oh man I fucking wish. I need to go out and take pictures of all the ones I've done so far. I've been pretty bad with this, even though it's my portfolio we're talkin' about. I'll try and get all those together and show everyone sometime.

Being a tattoo artist must be the coolest job ever, I've always wanted to become one. I'm practising my drawing at the moment, when I think I'm ready I'm gonna try and make the first few steps. Dunno if I'll actually, make it lol but it's something I've always wanted to do.

I'm gonna ask the guys in the tattoo shop how I should go about it when I go to get my next one done, which should be november at the latest.

How did you start out?

Oh man, it's the coolest job ever. There are literally no jobs in the area I'm currently residing in right, so I've got no real job title. So I've got mad drawing skills, so I got myself a tattoo kit. I can virtually go anywhere in the world and make money with this. I sleep in, play hackey sack, smoke dope, and tattoo people all day. Straight up drifter style. I'm movin' out to Ottawa at the end of the month though... then I gotta get myself a job to pay for rent, then get an apprenticeship so I can start doing some real training.

I got interested in ink at 15, and once I turned 16 I went out and got my first tattoo (still my favorite btw). It's kind of like a red cross with the word "Drifter" through the middle. Since then I've sort of been trying to find a way to live the drifter lifestyle but still make money too. That's when tattooing became an option, what with all my artistic capability and shit. So my friend's Mom's had some equipment and was working in one of the shops down here. She let me start out on pigskin and use all her shit. Gave me my first machine. From there I bought my own kit off of eBay, which I've been using to this point to make my bread and butter. Can't wait until I move though... pretty much a bum right now.

That sounds awesome man.
I've been interested in tattoos since I was a kid, my dad is covered in them and I was just fascinated by them.
I never really thought I'd have it in me to be an artist, but when I got my first one in june, I decided it's the only thing I ever wanna do haha.

So, you'd advise me to get started and practice on pig skin?

Yeah man. You can usually buy it at any butchery for pretty cheap. It smells like shit, but it sorta builds up your tolerance to fat gross people (believe me, they get tattoos too). Go spend like, 250$ on a basic starters kit on eBay or something. You can also work on melons and other fruit. Just make sure you do all of the sanitary practice while you do your work, just to get used to working in gloves and shit. Makes a difference.

Goodluck with that girl ;)

I personally don't like Tattoos since I think they 'spoil' the human body.
But it's pretty awesome that you can make such things, I wish I could draw like that but I suck at drawing anything.

Yeah, it's great I've found something I can be artistic in, and make a decent wage.

If my body's a temple, I'm planning on being in it awhile. Might as well hang up some posters, right?

Cool. Soon you'll have enough exp to level up your tattoo skills :D

Precisely.

Oh yaaaaaaaay. Best of wishes from your random friend on NG :D

Chyeah bro thanks. lol

LMAO
